ABOUT THE SHOW:
Painless: The Opioid Musical is a powerful, educational stage production that blends live theatre, original music, and true-to-life stories to reveal the realities of opioid addiction and the hope of recovery. Through compelling characters, heartfelt songs, and relatable narrative.
Looking for performers of all types, ethnicities, shapes, sizes. Ages 17 to 22. (See breakdown below for more specifics).
General Auditions:
All will be seen in 10-minute slots. You will be asked to present a monologue of your choosing that best represents your range of acting, as well as sing from the character list and music attached. There will also be a short interview.
WE WILL TAKE WALK INS AND ALL ATTENDING WILL BE SEEN, even if the sign-up is full.

Character Breakdown:
The Injured Athlete (male, lead, strong vocals, pop / rap, tenor, vocal range F3 – A4 OR female, lead, strong vocals, pop / rap, vocal range Eb3 – A4, Soprano)
A main character who took pride in physical strength and sports. After suffering an injury, they are prescribed opioids, leading to a profound struggle with addiction as they feel they’ve lost everything.
Vocal Audition: Male – Little White Pill (measures 1 – 32) Rehearsal Track
Female – Lie to Me (measures 80 to the end) Rehearsal Track
The Beauty Queen (Female, lead, strong vocals, jazz, alto, vocal range F3 – Eb5)
A main character who develops an addiction by using a doctor’s prescription drugs to help her get through beauty pageants. While sitting through a mundane drug awareness assembly realizes the extreme relevance of the crisis to their own life and peers.

The Impacted Teen (male, lead, strong vocals, baritone / tenor, Vocal range E3 – A4)
This role represents the collateral damage of the crises and reflects the deep personal and familial grief associated with opioid use disorder and overdose.

The Narrator and Mother (female, strong pop vocals, soprano, vocal range G3 – F5)
The role of the mother represents the collateral damage, emotional desperation, and systemic helplessness experienced by families fighting the opioid epidemic.

The doctor serves as a structural representation of the institutional system that inadvertently fueled the opioid crises.
