Artreach Theatre
The Augusta Players Artreach Theatre was created for the purpose of educating young audiences and expanding their knowledge and appreciation of theatre. Through this program, the Augusta Players presents special weekday matinees of its MainStage Productions to students throughout Augusta and its surrounding communities for a subsidized admission price. Artreach also partners with teachers, providing study guides so that the theatre experience can be used to reinforce concepts in the school curriculum.
Artreach is extremely successful; each year it reaches more than 12,000 students and teachers from 11 counties in Georgia and South Carolina. In the last two years Artreach has deepened its commitment to education by presenting additional plays that are not shown on the MainStage. These shows are directly connected to the curriculums of the area schools.
Artreach has an exciting season planned for 2009/2010. It will begin with School House Rock Live, followed by A Christmas Carol the Musical, The Diary of Anne Frank, and finishing with the Broadway musical Annie. By presenting innovative and comprehensive theatre arts experiences, The Augusta Players' Artreach Theatre helps to stimulate the potential of the CSRA students and reinforce the positive role the arts play in their academic success.
